Rob Saulin received an offer from UConn Football after making a visit for Junior Day a few weeks ago. On Saturday, after attending the spring game, the defensive end from Pennsville, New Jersey committed to Bob Diaco and his staff. He is the second verbal commitment for the Huskies in the Class of 2017.

"It was a great time," Saulin said about his experience at Pratt & Whitney Stadium. "I just knew that this was the place for me the second I got here."

Saulin had a chance to meet a large group from UConn's 2016 recruiting class, and also the other 2017 UConn commit, Jordan Mcafee.

"I met all the other guys from the incoming class," he said. "They were really cool and talked to me about our future as a team. It was a really great experience to meet most of my future teammates."

UConn Report spoke with Saulin after his Junior Day visit, where he expressed appreciation for the style of the coaching staff, and quality of the campus and facilities. He also carefully evaluated the staff's approach to academics, leaving very impressed with the emphasis they placed on the value of an education and completing schoolwork.

UConn was the first FBS school to offer Saulin, who also had interest from Michigan State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Delaware, and Iowa.

"I love everything about the team and school," he said. "There's something real special about this place and I'm glad to be a part of it."
