Randy Edsall and his staff have been on a tear on the recruiting trail, most recently adding three-star offensive lineman Robert Holmes from Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida to the commitment list for the class of 2017.

Holmes held offers from Auburn and Miami (FL) as well as FAU, where he was previously committed before the dismissal of head coach Charlie Partridge. He also had interest from UCF, USF, Michigan State, and Georgia State, among others.

In his senior season, Holmes made Florida's Class 3A All-State team. He had a visit from the new staff at FAU earlier this month but decided to change his commitment after a visit from the UConn staff, which arrived four strong with head coach Edsall, offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee, offensive line coach J.B. Grimes, and running backs coach Terry Richardson.

The 6-foot-6 guard becomes the 15th verbal commitment for the class of 2017, the fourth offensive lineman. UConn has seven offensive players coming in as freshmen and has also added South Carolina transfer David Williams, a big running back with speed to boot. Rob King, another recent commitment, could be playing offense or defense, it remains to be seen.
