UConn Football adds a talented runner to its stable in running back David Williams, who announced he will be transferring to UConn after three years at South Carolina.

Williams was a four-star recruit in the class of 2013 who committed to Steve Spurrier's squad over offers from a number of major powers, including Ohio State, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Notre Dame, and Nebraska.

In three years with the Gamecocks, he ran the ball 187 times for 794 yards (4.2 ypc) and five touchdowns. Williams also caught 27 passes for 264 yards, an average of 9.8 yards per reception. He'll likely be in line for a lot more playing time with the Huskies.

Williams will be coming to UConn as a graduate transfer, and thus eligible to play immediately, giving the Huskies a very talented option out of the backfield in tandem with the explosive Arkeel Newsome.
