Vance Jackson, No. 72 player in Class of 2016, commits to UConn

The 2015-16 season has yet to begin, but already the UConn Huskies' future looks bright. The addition of four-star sharpshooter Vance Jackson, who announced Friday he was coming to Storrs, Conn. next year, makes it even brighter.
Jackson, a 6-foot-7 combo forward at Prolific Prep (Calif.), is ranked 72nd in the Class of 2016. Jackson spent two years at St. John Bosco, including one with current UConn sophomore forward Daniel Hamilton, but switched schools at the end of spring following a coaching change at Bosco.

Prolific Prep will be Jackson's third high school. He also spent his freshman year at Pasadena La Salle.
Late last month Jackson, a stretch four-man with a deft touch from the perimeter, took an official visit to UConn.
He also visited Cal the first weekend of October. Arizona, Maryland, Memphis, San Diego State and Washington were among the other schools that made offers, but when he cut his list in early September, UConn, Cal and Memphis became the final three options.
The Huskies already have three players committed to the 2016 class - 6-0 point guard Alterique Gilbert (Miller Grove, 36th), 6-9 forward Juwan Durham (Tampa Prep, 27th) and 6-8 Mamadou Diarra (Putnam Science Academy, 147th).
Durham is out for the season with a knee injury - his second in as many seasons - and Diarra figures to be a project big man, so Gilbert and Jackson should be the ones to provide an immediate impact on the Huskies in 2016. UConn will also have VCU transfer Terry Larrier eligible, so Ollie's squad figures to be loaded again next year no matter who they lose to the NBA draft.
