Being from New York, Benson enjoys being closer to home to be able to see his family now that he is at UConn. He also loves the culture and the atmosphere the program has to offer under Coach (Jim) Mora.

“I also like the culture and atmosphere of Uconn. I know Coach Mora is creating something special with this program and I wanted to be a part of it and make history.“

After entering the portal in May he chose the Huskies over UT-Martin, Alabama A&M, and Murray State. He stands at 6-foot-4 and 310lbs adding some solid size to the defensive line.

RIVALS REACTION…

Benson has great size and should fit the play style at UConn pretty well. He is a humble guy but he gives full effort through the whistle. Also a guy who likes to focus on the fundamentals and techniques a lot. He has the chance to truly make an impact with the Huskies and we can’t wait to see him step on the field.
