NC CB on the radar

As the UConn coaching staff scours the country in search of more talent, one stop on Wednesday was Mallard Creek High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. This stop was to check on cornerback Nafees Lyon, who is a new name on the UConn radar.
"Recruiting is going okay," said Lyon, who is 5-foot-10 and 179 pounds. "I have eight offers so far. UConn came to my school today [Wednesday] to talk to me."

While the Huskies did not offer Lyon yesterday, the Carolina cornerback already has offers from Marshall, Miami-Ohio, North Texas, Charlotte, James Madison, Elon, Mercer and Jacksonville State.
"UConn just wanted to let me know that they were recruiting me now and the coach gave my coach some info on the school and about their camp this summer," said Lyon. "I also got his card to keep in touch."
This stop at Mallard Creek by Coach Lineburg was the first contact that Lyon has had with the Huskies. So does he have any initial thoughts about UConn?
"It seems like a very good school," he said. "I would like to go check out the school and the facilities."
Lyon recently attended spring games at both N.C. State and Charlotte, but does not have any other visits planned at this time. When he does hit the road, he does know what he is looking for.
"A good atmosphere, coaches showing a lot of love and a nice looking athletic facility," he said.
In the coming weeks, Lyon is also hoping to piece together his summer camp schedule.
"I'll know what camps I'm going to probably at the end of May, because I wanna go to schools that haven't seen me," he said. "I want to prove that I deserve bigger offers and that I'm a lockdown corner."
With hopes that he will attract more offers in the coming months, Lyon is not in much of a rush to make a final decision. However, he is beginning to realize that there are a few things that will be important to him when that time comes.
"I'm looking for a place where I can get on the field the quickest, the coaching staff that shows a lot of love, a good environment and a winning program that puts players in the NFL," he said.
