Huskies keeping an eye on Florida DB

A new name that has recently appeared on the recruiting radar is defensive back Allen Dawson of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Pine Crest. Injuries have slowed down Dawson's high school career, but now healthy, he is eager to prove that he deserves more attention.
"I was injured during my sophomore year, as well as most of my junior year, which hurt me a lot as far as recruiting goes," said Dawson, who is 6-foot-0 and 190 pounds. "This year was really my only year of having some solid film. The goal that I have set for myself is to be one of the top defensive backs in the country and receive a scholarship from a major D1 college."

At this time, the two BCS schools showing Dawson interest are UConn and Boston College.
"They said if I were to do a post-graduate year I could expect an offer," said Dawson. "My coach and I actually think doing a post-graduate year would be great for me, considering the goals that I want to achieve."
Because of the injuries that have slowed down his recruiting process, the post-graduate option is looking more and more likely for Dawson.
"At this moment I am definitely leaning towards a post-graduate year," he said. "I will be applying to Fork Union Military Academy, Suffield, Exeter, Salisbury, Cheshire, Berkshire and Deerfield. I honestly believe that I have the talent, potential and work ethic to play at a major D1 college."
Before his senior season began, Dawson actually made his way to Storrs to attend a summer camp session.
"I was extremely impressed when I went up to the camp this summer," he said. "The program seems like it is making great progress. The campus was beautiful and the facilities were impressive. Also the coaching was very informative and beneficial. UConn is a very prestigious university, and has a great balance in both academics and athletics, which is definitely very important."
UConnReport.com will continue to stay in touch with Dawson to see what route he decides to take in the coming months.
