Tight end Jordan Fuchs had long been on the UConn radar, and earlier this week he decided to make it official by giving the Huskies his commitment. The talented two-sport star will head to UConn this weekend to take his official visit in order to better familiarize himself with his future home.
"I made my decision to commit to UConn because I knew what I wanted," said Fuchs. "So why wait?"
Fuchs, of Middle Village (N.Y.) Christ the King, has made a few visits to UConn along the way and mentioned that two things definitely stood out.
"The facilities and the coaching staff," said Fuchs, who is 6-foot-6 and 228 pounds.
Coach Wholley has been recruiting Fuchs for UConn.
"He's a cool dude," said Fuchs. "I like him a lot."
Besides his relationship with Coach Wholley, knowing that Coach Pasqualoni coached tight ends at the NFL level was another major factor for Fuchs.
Knowing that he wanted to play both football and basketball in college, Fuchs ended up picking the Huskies over Rutgers, SMU, Buffalo and Stony Brook. All of these schools offered him the opportunity to play both sports.
Up next for Fuchs will be his official visit to Storrs this coming weekend.
"I hope to see how the atmosphere of the school is," said Fuchs. "I also want to see how the school is while it is in session."
Now that he can turn his attention to his future, Fuchs was asked how he feels that he is finally committed.
"I feel very relieved that the process is over," he said.
UConnReport.com will continue to stay in touch with Fuchs as he prepares for National Signing Day and then his move to Storrs.
