LOUISVILLE, Ky. — There's no denying that UConn is Zach Frazer's team now.
Though an official diagnosis on the length of time quarterback Tyler Lorenzen will miss due to a broken right foot suffered in UConn's 26-21 win over Louisville on Friday is unavailable, early reports from the medical staff indicated that the senior quarterback could be out up to two months.

That would put his return just before the Huskies' game against Pittsburgh on Dec. 6, a date that would be far too late in the season to give the quarterback any chance of earning his way back onto the field.
Frazer, who became the No. 2 quarterback in the week leading up to the game and took the remainder of the snaps after Lorenzen's injury, will now take over as the starter for the remainder of the season.
"Zach's the No. 1 and Cody [Endres] is No. 2," UConn head coach Randy Edsall said Saturday. "Those are the two guys now that we have to go with."
The sophomore was flustered early, fumbling the first snap of the third quarter and later botching a handoff to running back Donald Brown before settling in. Edsall could not point to a moment when Frazer regained his composure, though the quarterback showed his emotion on the field for the first time after Louisville's Daniel Covington was called for roughing the passer midway through the third.
Frazer finished the game 8-for-15 with 90 yards and a touchdown.
The game plan will likely be modified as a result of Lorenzen's injury. Though Frazer is able to move in the pocket, his speed does not provide for as many options in the run game as that of Lorenzen, who grew increasingly comfortable keeping the ball and scrambling in recent weeks. He does, however, possess a stronger arm that should open up the vertical passing game.
That was evident Friday when he found Martin Bedard for a 20-yard gain in the third quarter and even when he overthrew Kashif Moore as the freshman receiver streaked into the end zone.
"I thought he delivered the ball where he should have gone with it and put the ball on the money, and he looked very confident out there," Edsall said. "He's got to be the guy to go forward with us and just be prepared and go on and do a good job."
Moving on up
Both Steve Brouse, who broke his right fibula in the third quarter Friday, and Lorenzen will undergo surgery Sunday at the UConn Health Center in Farmington. As a result of Brouse's injury, Martin Bedard moves into the role as a starting tight end and redshirt freshman Yianni Apostolakos will back him up. Eager to get three tight ends involved, Edsall will burn the redshirt on John Delahunt, who enrolled at UConn in January and went through spring practice with the Huskies. … Quarterback Casey Turner. Instead, Jon McEntee, a true freshman walk-on from Anaheim (Calif.) Servite, will be the No. 3 quarterback. Until McEntee plays in a game – an unlikely scenario – he will not lose his redshirt status.
