Big day arrives for Fatukasi

National Signing Day is a monumental occasion for kids all over the country. One of these is UConn commit Folorunso Fatukasi, who already sent his Letter of Intent to the Huskies this morning and will have a special signing day event at his school at 3:15.
"My family and I feel great," said Fatukasi. "To be one of the few players from Queens and to have four years of college paid for, because I'm playing the sport I love, is great. My family is really happy and excited for me."

While Fatukasi, 6-foot-4 and 280 pounds, is the first member of his family to play college football, he is not the first athlete.
"Well my dad was huge in Nigeria for soccer and my mom was a great cultural dancer, also in Nigeria, so I guess it runs in the blood," he said.
His family may have had some reservations about their son playing football originally, but they are now happy with how everything has turned out.
"Well they believe that I am extremely blessed by God, but at first football was the last sport they wanted me to play," said Fatukasi. "For them to change their mind is really like a form of happiness for them."
Now that everything is official, Fatukasi will change his focus to preparing himself for college life.
"I will just keep doing what I'm doing," he said. "I will keep working out hard and training hard. This time it's also about staying healthy, and getting stronger and faster so I will be somewhat ready for the new level that I will be playing at."
UConnReport.com will continue to stay in touch with Fatukasi as he prepares for his move to UConn.
