4-star Guard Visiting UConn This Weekend

This weekend is a huge weekend for UConn. It's move-in weekend for students and on the basketball front, head coach Kevin Ollie will have two official visitors on campus: Rivals' 33rd ranked prospect, point guard Paul Scruggs, and three-star power forward Josh Carlton.

"Me and coach Ollie's relationship is very good and it's the same way with coach Killings," the four-star point guard out of Indiana told UConn Report.

Scruggs will be taking his first visit to Storrs. He mentioned that he's planning on getting his decision over with before his high school basketball season starts this upcoming winter.

Scruggs is one of UConn's main point guard targets in 2017 along with Makai Ashton-Langford, who announced that he is down to UConn and Providence. Scruggs is down to UConn, Xavier, Indiana, Michigan State, and Illinois. It's very likely that there will only be room for one of them in UConn's class so if both of their visits go very well it could come down to whoever decides to commit first.

"I really don't know that much about UConn. I'm hoping to learn a lot more about the campus and I like the coaches. I just want to see how the school and campus are when I'm there," he explained about his upcoming visit.

At this point, Scruggs has taken visits to Xavier and Indiana and has visits planned to Michigan State and Illinois in the weeks following his UConn visit. Going into his Xavier visit rumors started that he was possibly going to commit there but he never did. He says that right now all of his final five schools are still under consideration.

Standing at 6-foot-3 and 190lbs, Paul Scruggs is a physically imposing point guard. He uses his superior size and strength to get into the lane and finish over and through defenders at the rim.

Over the course of June and July live periods, the talented guard showed off good passing abilities and a smooth jumper. He played his best basketball on the biggest stages as well, which is something no coach can teach. It's also worth noting that he is AAU teammates with small forward Kris Wilkes, who also has UConn in his final five.

UConn Report will have updates from Scruggs and Carlton after their weekend visits.
