2017 UConn MBB Big Board

Point Guard- Makai Ashton-Langford, Interest: High
Ashton-Langford recently told UConn Report that he grew up a UConn fan and has previously referred to UConn as his dream school. The talented lead guard who plays for Mass Rivals is also being recruited hard by Providence, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, and others. Look for UConn to be in it until the end with the fast-rising guard out of Massachusetts.

Center- Zach Brown, Interest: High
UConn has been recruiting the five-star big man for a while now. He visited last fall for UConn's First Night and has been a major priority since. Kevin Ollie or assistants were at many of his games over the summer. It's been rumored that he may be taking another visit to Storrs in the near future and there's a possibility he may commit soon after if he does indeed visit. His situation is one to watch closely in the next month. If he visits campus again soon UConn it will be clear UConn is in a great spot with him, especially with former Husky and Kevin Ollie's longtime friend Boo Willingham as his long time coach.
Center- Mohamed Bamba, Interest: Low
Bamba has been offered by UConn but he's an elite level player in his class. Kentucky and Duke look like very possible landing spot for him. It will be very hard for Ollie to beat both of those schools out if he decides he wants to pursue the five star heavily. It doesn't look likely he will be too big of a target.
Shooting Guard- Hamidou Diallo, Interest: Top Target
The explosive guard is high school and AAU teammates with 2016 UConn commit Mamadou Diarra and they are extremely close friends. UConn is perceived by many to be among his top few, if not his leader. Diallo has been on campus multiple times already. Diallo has offers from basically every major school in the country but there's a very good change he ends up playing his college basketball at UConn.
Point Guard- Ishmael El-Amin, Interest: Low
Ish El-Amin will be linked to UConn throughout his recruitment due to his father. At this point UConn is keeping tabs on Ishmael and hasn't offered him a scholarship yet.
Shooting Guard- D.J. Harvey, Interest: Low
Kevin Ollie recently offered the versatile five-star wing. However, Harvey will be able to pick any school in the country to play his college basketball at. With Kentucky, Arizona, Duke, and others in strong with him it is looking unlikely he ends up in Storrs.
Power Forward- Ira Lee, Interest: Medium
Lee has been on UConn's radar for a long time now. UConn watched him multiple times this summer and he told various Rivals reporters that UConn was among a group of four or five schools recruiting him the hardest. However, schools out west will be very hard to beat out for him. Arizona, Texas, UCLA, and Cal are also going after him hard.
Point Guard- Nate Pierre-Louis, Interest: Medium
Pierre-Louis looks to be UConn's third or fourth priority at point guard. He visited campus this past summer and UConn watched a few games of his as well. Other schools after him right now are Creighton, Providence, Rutgers, Seton Hall, and others. UConn's interest in him will rise if they miss on their top couple point guards.
Small Forward- Andre Rafus, Interest: Medium
Rafus' recruitment could be largely determined by who Kevin Ollie is able to bring onboard in 2016. If Vance Jackson or Mario Kegler commit to UConn, the Huskies will have two new high-level wings with those two and Terry Larrier for the next few years. However, if neither Jackson or Kegler commit the heat could turn up on Rafus.
Small Forward- Jermaine Samuels, Interest: Medium
Samuels was hurt for the majority of the summer so he hasn't been in the conversation as much recently. However, he's still a top fifty player and UConn has shown a good punt of interest in him in the past. Many other New England and east coast schools are also showing interest.
Center- Ikechukwu Obaigo, Interest: High
UConn is one of the newer schools in his recruitment however Ollie looks to be pressing hard for the elite shot blocker. UConn watched him a bunch of times towards the end of the summer and have been talking to him often ever since. Vanderbilt, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Florida, and many other schools are also recruiting him hard as of right now.
Point Guard- Tremont Waters, Interest: High
Waters is an elite guard out of Connecticut which means UConn has been involved in his recruitment since the beginning. In addition two UConn two other schools, Duke and Stanford, look to be big players in his recruitment. Waters values education highly, as well as basketball, which is a major draw of those two schools. UConn should be on his final list of schools once he makes one.
