Texas Tech LB transfer Brandon Bouyer-Randle talks UConn commitment

UConn Football has been very active in the transfer portal this offseason under new head coach Jim Mora and crew, recently they added their 13th total addition via the portal as former Texas Tech linebacker Brandon Bouyer-Randle joined the Huskies.

The 6-foot-2, 240-pound linebacker recruit spent the last two seasons with Texas Tech after spending four years at Michigan State. Now he is entering his seventh season of college football and looking to finish it off with the Huskies.

“I chose UConn because they have a need for impact players to come in right away and make a difference,” Bouyer-Randle told UConnReport. “I also wanted to be a part of the Husky Revolution.”

Along with playing time and a chance to be a key cog in the Huskies rebuild, a visit to campus helped seal the deal for Bouyer-Randle and UConn.

“I visited campus before committing,” Bouyer-Randle said. “Honestly everything about the place stood out to me, from how nice the facilities were and just how genuine the coaches were too.”

During his time at Texas Tech, whenever Bouyer-Randle was healthy he would play outside linebacker for the Red Raiders. However the Huskies plan on moving him around a little bit more in their schemes this season.

“The staff and I spoke about it and we are going to work at both positions,” said Bouyer-Randle. “I’ll be playing inside and outside.”

Now as mentioned slightly above, Bouyer-Randle suffered some injuries during his college career missing multiple games at Michigan State and Texas Tech. However he is healthy now and ready to help this year’s Huskies team.

“I'm fully healthy now," he said.. "I'm hoping to help UConn get a few more wins in whatever way possible this season."
