NEW LONDON, Conn. – Lukas Kisunas has a future at the next level, but he’s not ready to call it a career at Brewster Academy.

Kisunas and Brewster had to fend off Mount Zion Prep Tuesday afternoon at Connecticut College to advance with a 74-69 victory in the opening round of the National Prep Championship.

Mount Zion already dealt Kisunas and his teammates one blow this season, snapping the defending champion’s 37-game winning streak back in November.

“I think everyone was a little edgy after the last two times we lost,” said the 6-foot-10 Kisunas, who had committed to UConn for next season. “Everybody had some extra motivation to come out and get the win. Obviously, nobody wants to end the season on a loss especially in a national tournament.”
