Wenyen Gabriel includes UConn in Final 5

Kevin Ollie and his staff have been pursuing Wenyen Gabriel for quite some time now, well before Kentucky, Kansas or Duke and even before Virginia, Maryland and a host of others. Today he shared his final five with Rivals national analyst Eric Bossi.

Among the notable schools eliminated by Gabriel with this decision are Kansas, Notre Dame, Virginia and Wake Forest. He has already scheduled visits to Maryland, Duke and Kentucky with Providence and UConn to be determined. Having already seen UConn's campus a few times, Gabriel probably has a strong sense of what to expect should he come to Storrs in 2016.
After stringing together some very impressive performances this summer Gabriel's stock has absolutely soared. Hopefully for Kevin Ollie's sake the fact that he has been working so long on building a relationship with Gabriel and the Mass Rivals crew in general comes into play as Gabriel continues to whittle down his list.
UConn's 2016 recruiting class is currently looking strong with PF Mamadou Diarra, PG Alterique Gilbert, and the activation of VCU transfer Terry Larrier, who was a top-50 prospect in the Class of 2014. The Huskies will have at least a three open scholarships and potentially more depending on any early entrants to the NBA Draft.
