Van Allen will camp at UConn

Athlete John Van Allen of Avon(Conn.) Avon Old Farms had already taken numerous visits to UConn over the course of the last year, but returned once again this past Saturday for the school's junior day.
"The junior day went well," said Van Allen, who is 6-foot-3 and 190-pounds. "I got to get a better look at UConn and what it has to offer."

While he was already familiar with UConn, he still learned a number of things during his most recent visit.
"From the academic standpoint, UConn is one of the best public universities in the nation and there is a high percentage among athletes that graduate, which is great," said Van Allen.
The visit also gave Van Allen another opportunity to further strengthen his relationship with the coaching staff.
"I got a chance to talk to my recruiting coach, Coach Sos, my positional coach as well, Coach Perkins, and Head Coach P too," said Van Allen. "They want me to come for a one-day camp this summer for a workout, and then see what's what from there."
Van Allen's continued interaction with UConn has only strengthened his bond with the university.
"UConn is a great place, where I could see myself playing and a place where I would be able to develop as a student-athlete," said Van Allen.
With February now complete, Van Allen will continue his busy schedule in March.
"I have visits to Penn State, BC, Duke, Temple and Princeton coming up next month," said Van Allen, who will also attend a number of summer camps. "I've signed up for camps at Maryland, UConn, Princeton and Penn State."
