UConn Football lands South Florida transfer LB Davon Hicks

UConn Football has landed another transfer this offseason as the program announced today that they landed former South Florida linebacker Davon Hicks today as he took to Twitter to announce his commitment,

The 6-foot, 215-pounds linebacker is joining the Huskies after spending two seasons with the Bulls.

As a member of the class of 2021, Hicks was ranked as a 5.5, three-star recruit and hails from Vero Beach High School down in Florida. At the end of his recruitment, Hicks racked up 12 total offers before choosing South Florida over the likes of offers from programs such as Appalachian State, Central Michigan, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Marshall and several others.

During his two years with the Bulls, Hicks appeared in 17 total games all while tallying 217 carries for 1,117 yards and seven touchdowns. He also had 16 receptions for 154 yards as well.

Mitchell's best season came in 2021, where he had 36 total tackles (22 solo) and 3.5 tackles for loss during that same timespan. He will join UConn with two years of eligibility remaining.

Some of the other offers that Hicks earned since entering the portal include Arkansas State, Bowling Green, Eastern Kentucky, East Tennessee State, Incarnate Word, Murray State, North Alabama, Southern Illinois, Tennessee Tech.
