Supreme Athlete, Like Randy Edsall, Looking to Raise the Bar in Connecticut

Texas, Florida, California, Georgia, Ohio, North Carolina, and New Jersey all have something in common. These are some of the top states when it comes to high school football recruiting.

Occasionally a state like Connecticut produces some top tier talent, but it seems those talented prospects always seem to leave for bigger programs. UConn Head Coach Randy Edsall is working on changing that, as he already has five commits from the state.

Coach Stack Williams of Supreme Athlete INC. is a former Husky player under Edsall and gave us the inside look on how he works with Connecticut athletes and what he expects from Edsall's second turn at coaching the Huskies.

"Man, playing at UConn was pretty cool. I got the opportunity to be coached by very knowledgeable and committed staff while playing with and against some of the best talent in the world. Playing D1 football is most HS athletes dream. I believe playing at UConn helped shaped me today by strengthening my understanding of work ethic and personal drive. At UConn, it’s such a business that coaches do not have time to motivate or inspire you. At this level, if you don’t get it, you won’t get it, and the next man up will get it. Parents cannot save you at this point."

"Coach Edsall is an old school guy. He is no nonsense, what you see is what you get, no bells and whistles. I believe the thing about coach is that he’s been in this game for so long, he’s seen everything and knows just about everyone, so he doesn’t have time for the new school methods or philosophies. But one thing for sure is that he will instill accountability in his players. He has a way of ensuring that his players take full responsibility for themselves and make no excuses. Period. His reputation has truly been education before anything else. The graduation rate has always been in the top percentile at UConn. So, parents can rest assured knowing their child will graduate without a doubt,” Williams said.

"Coach already has the formula and he knows the area HS coaches and people involved with developing athletes in the state. This is familiar territory for him. Actually he built UConn to national recognition during my era playing for him. I believe coach Edsall has more advantages this go round because UCONN has produced draft picks and won bowl games. So now he has more leverage. The one area, I would say Edsall MUST focus on is getting a QB. If he can recruit and develop a QB that can lead the charge, UCONN will be (back to) ranked as high as #13 in the Nation and even higher."

As of right now Coach Williams has a couple of Huskies committed in the class of 2018 and hopes to add even more in the next upcoming classes as well.

"Currently, I mentor/train 2018 UConn LB commits Dillon Harris, Kevon Jones, along with 2019 (targets) ATH Tyler Rudolph, DB Marquis Wilson, 2020 DT Tre Williams, and so many more. These are the current athletes with the offers,” said Williams.
