Khalife has a fantastic time at UConn

A slightly under-the-radar defensive end who is beginning to pick up recruiting attention is Anthony Khalife of Wilkes Barre (Pa.) James M. Coughlin. The junior made his way to Storrs this past weekend for the Huskies junior day and is making a trip to an ACC school this coming weekend.
"I had a fantastic time at the junior day and I was very impressed with the campus and the football program," said Khalife. "The coaches were all very personable, which I think is vital to a team's success."

Most of his time with the coaching staff was spent with two specific members.
"Coach Hughes, who recruits our area, and Coach Foley," said Khalife. "Coach Foley was the offensive line coach at Colgate when my dad played there. I talked to all the other coaches quite a bit, but Coach Hughes and Foley the most."
So was a possible offer discussed with Khalife?
"After the day was over I talked to Coach Pasqualoni," said Khalife. "He basically said that I was high up on their list and that they want me to come to camp in the summer so they can have a more personal evaluation in terms of my skill and coachability. From there, they will see if they're going to offer. I do not think they offered anyone during the junior day, from what I heard."
Khalife shared his overall thoughts on UConn now that his first visit is behind him.
"I was extremely impressed with the football facilities and the campus is beautiful," he said. "Everything seems to be moving forward in a positive way, both academically and athletically. The coaches were very personable and it is definitely a place I can see myself at in the future."
A return visit is likely for Khalife.
"We are hoping to get back down there for a spring practice and spring game," he said.
The junior end will hit the road again this weekend.
"I'm going to Maryland this weekend, then Buffalo after that," said Khalife, who was asked to name the schools that are currently showing him the most interest. "UConn and Maryland are very interested, and I got the impression Pitt was at their junior day. There is also a lot of interest from the Patriot League, especially Colgate and Lehigh."
