Illinois DB Ian Swenson Commits to UConn

Bob Diaco and the UConn staff have struck gold once again in the Chicago area with the verbal commitment of Ian Swenson. The three-star defensive back who plays for Loyola Academy in Wilmette, Illinois, announced his decision via Twitter.

At the time of his commitment, Swenson held offers from the Big 12 (Iowa State), ACC (Louisville), and a number of schools in the MAC and Mountain West. Standing 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, he fits the mold which Diaco and his defensive staff look for in corners and safeties.

The Huskies have been able to add quality talent from the Chicago area in previous classes, including defensive back Aaron Garland in the class of 2015 and wide receiver Quayvon Skanes in the class of 2016. Swenson's commitment further builds a pipeline which will be a key to UConn's success in the future.

Swenson is the sixth verbal commitment for UConn in the class of 2017 and the fourth defensive player, joined by defensive end Rob Saulin, linebacker Ryan Dickens, and fellow defensive back Bebe Olaniyan from Virginia.
