Dixon suspended indefinitely following arrest

STORRS, Conn. — Running back Andre Dixon was suspended indefinitely by UConn head coach Randy Edsall on Tuesday after what police records show was an arrest for driving under the influence earlier that morning.
Dixon, a redshirt junior, was pulled over by a UConn police officer after, according to a police report, the vehicle he was operating was following a UConn patrol car too closely. Dixon was subsequently given a series of standardized field sobriety tests, which he failed.

"Andre Dixon has been suspended for a violation of team rules, so he will not be playing [against Pittsburgh]," said Edsall, who did not elaborate on Dixon's suspension. "Right now, it's an indefinite suspension."
Dixon was released on $500 bond and is scheduled for an appearance in Rockville Superior Court on December 12.
Dixon, an all-Big East second-team selection last season, has rushed for only 37 yards on nine carries this year.
