UConn Report spoke to Herring in late-May after he made a visit to UConn. He discussed his interest in academics, playing for his hometown school and an appreciation for the recruiting approach taken by the UConn staff. Herring chose UConn over offers from Vanderbilt, Virginia and Temple. It's a big win for UConn over the ACC and SEC.
When asked about why he chose UConn over the other schools that offered, Herring shared, "I felt it was the school I was most comfortable with and was the best fit." He is also good friends with UConn's Brice McCalister- the two are former high school teammates.
Herring becomes the fifth commitment to UConn in the Class of 2016. Right now there is a quarterback, two wide receivers, and two defensive backs.
