Commitment articles: Rivals | NH Register | Zags Blog

===============

8/10/18 - Brendan Adams gives UConn a big and sturdy presence on the wing that it hasn't had recently. Think a "Denham Brown" type build at 6-4. (Jon Rothstein, Twitter)

7/9/18 - 5 Under-The-Radar American Conference Freshmen: Feron Hunt, SMU; Arashma Parks, Temple; Logan Johnson, Cincinnati; Brendan Adams, UConn; Morris Udeze, Wichita State (Jon Rothstein, Twitter)

4/26/18 - UConn Head Coach Dan Hurley on Brendan Adams: "Brendan is really talented combo guard who can score on all three levels. He will help us as a really good ball-screen player and a strong perimeter shooter. He is someone who will be a big part of both our short-term and long-term plans."

4/19/18 - “It’s going to be fun to watch him develop with Coach Hurley,” said John Bauersfeld, who coached Brendan at Calvert Hall in Baltimore. “This year, we were pushing at the end of the season to make the playoffs and we got to halftime and he didn’t have a point and we were down seven. I went after him pretty hard, telling him, ‘You think you’re a Division I player?’ He went out in the second half and overtime and he got 29, he just went nuts. Took the game over and we ended up winning by 12. “I really think that’s why he wanted to follow Coach Hurley to UConn, I really do, because we talked about that and he’s like, ‘I need that, I need that coach who’s going to really get on me and push me.’ He responds well to that.” (Dom Amore, Hartford Courant)

4/15/18 - Brendan Adams on UConn: “It was really just the rich history and tradition that that program has. I already had a relationship with most of the coaches that were recruiting me from my first recruiting process, so there was no new relationship forming.”

4/15/18 - Brendan Adams said at first wanted to stay at URI, but #UConn was too much to turn down. On Hurley: "I feel like he'll help me become a better player and a better man." (David Borges, Twitter)

4/15/18 - Just got off the phone with Brendan Adams. Looks forward to coming to UConn. “Once I got on campus it became an easy decision. I felt it was a good fit.” (Gavin Keefe, Twitter)

4/15/18 - Calvert Hall (MD) guard Brendan Adams is following Dan Hurley to UConn. Former URI signee will give Huskies some needed depth & perimeter shooting. (Adam Finkelstein, Twitter)

4/13/18 - OFFICIAL VISIT: UConn

4/12/18 - UConn will host Rivals150 senior Brendan Adams tomorrow for an unofficial visit, per source. Adams was a one-time commit to Dan Hurley when at Rhode Island @StorrsCentral (Corey Evans, Twitter)

4/11/18 - Adams signed with Rhode Island in the fall and just received his release on Tuesday. Given that former Rams coach Dan Hurley landed at UConn, the Huskies will likely figure into his new recruitment.

4/11/18 - UConn, Seton Hall, Xavier & George Mason involved since Adams’ release yesterday (Corey Evans, Twitter)

4/10/18 - [Calvert Hall Head Coach John] Bauersfeld said Adams has already been contacted by Connecticut, Xavier and Seton Hall. (Glenn Graham, The Baltimore Sun)

4/10/18 - Brendan Adams has received his release from Rhode Island, per source. Available Rivals150 senior that will not lack for quality college suitors this spring (Corey Evans, Twitter)

4/4/18 - Brendan Adams has asked for his release from Rhode Island, per source. Rivals150 senior guard should have no shortage of suitors this spring due to athleticism and shot making prowess (Corey Evans, Twitter)

2/16/18 - Jaylen Adams has had an incredible February, averaging 33.5 points including two 40-point games. Though Brendan’s team has not had the same success as Bonaventure, currently holding a 9-15 record, he is closing in on 1,500 career points. (Chuckie Maggio, Olean Times Herald)

11/19/17 - The Rams are the only Atlantic 10 program to boast more than one Rivals150 pledge this fall thanks to the commitments of Harris and Adams. Harris should solidify Rhode Island’s frontcourt while Adams, who is the younger brother of St. Bonaventure star Jaylen Adams, is oozing with talent and upside. Toss in hard-nosed power forward Tate and high flying wing Martin and URI boasts the top mid-major recruiting class this fall. (Corey Evans, Rivals)

11/13/17 - "Brendan had an outstanding junior season that resulted in a number of high-major offers. He has the size, athleticism and skill set to fit our system very well. He is a strong ball-handler and passer with a very high IQ. He also is a big-time shooter, and we obviously are very excited to have him. He is the younger brother of Jaylen Adams from St. Bonaventure, and we are hoping he can have the same type of impact here early in his career. He is without a doubt a rotational player, and he will have every opportunity to fight for a starting job with the departure of four senior guards." (David Cox, URI Associate Head Coach)

10/9/17 - Adams is an athletic playmaker who can create offense off the dribble and is a streak scorer. (Eric Bossi, Rivals)

10/8/17 - Adams hails from an enviable athletic background. His mother, the former Yalonda Wilkins, was a 1,200-point scorer and Hall of Fame inductee at Delaware’s Wesley College. His father, Darryl, played college football at Maryland. And his older brother, Jaylen, is an Atlantic 10 Player of the Year candidate after being named first-team all-conference as a sophomore and junior with St. Bonaventure. “That pushes me and my brother a lot,” Adams said. “There’s a lot of competition in the house. We’re trying to make our own statement for ourselves.” (Bill Koch, Providence Journal)

10/8/17 - #Rivals150 wing Brendan Adams to Rhode Island. This after landing 4-star Jermaine Harris on Friday. Big weekend for Danny Hurley & staff. (Eric Bossi, Twitter)

7/13/17 - OFFER: UMass

7/13/17 - 2018 Brendan Adams of Team Melo was really solid yesterday. Finished w 23 points. Scored by getting to the rim and hit some tough jumpers (Houston Wilson, Twitter)

7/12/17 - Also, Brendan Adams (@BAuno0) is playing on top of the Team Melo zone with activity and has chased down d-boards (Ryan James, Twitter)

7/12/17 - Strong first half for Team Melo's Brendan Adams. Doing more off the dribble than I've seen in past. Melo up 4 on Lightning. (Adam Finkelstein, Twitter)

7/12/17 - It's not just the vision I like from Brendan Adams but how he set up all the shots for teammates. Extra dribble to draw, quick location/zip (Ryan James, Twitter)

7/12/17 - Brendan Adams. Like the lift and soft touch on the r-hand attack pull-up. Good looking shot at a legit 6-3. Impressed with his vision too (Ryan James, Twitter)

7/12/17 - 2018 Brendan Adams with a nice start for Team Melo. 7 points in the first opening minutes. Scrappy and can get to his spots. #PeachJam (Houston Wilson, Twitter)

7/12/17 - Minnesota assistant Ed Conroy is watching 2018 combo guard Brendan Adams (@BAuno0) of Team Melo opening the Peach Jam (Ryan James, Twitter)

6/28/17 - Brendan Adams on recruiting: "My top five right now would probably be Stanford, Minnesota, Rhode Island, St. Joe’s, and probably Wyoming. I’m still open with my recruitment though, if any new schools were to show interest."

6/19/17 - Adams is primarily a shooting guard for Team Melo, but he’s working on his poise and ball handling to develop into a more well-rounded combo guard. He gave TGR an assessment of his game: “I’ve really been working on staying in control, specifically at big points in the game -- just how to attack those moments and make winning plays. I think that’s an important quality of point guards at the next level,” he said. “I think I have made some big strides defensively, but I want to keep getting better there. I want to get my body right and get bigger because I know that the physicality of the college level will be more than it is in high school. Because of my height, I know I won’t play point guard all the time, I will be more of a combo guard. I will definitely be working on getting a really consistent jumper so that when I am off the ball I can make shots and do a lot of things for my team.” (Matt Jessen-Howard & EJ Stevens, The Gopher Report)

6/5/17 - '18 Brendan Adams (@BAuno0) shooting lights out this game. Off screens, off the dribble, hasn't seemed to matter. Same result. @PrepHoopsMD (Colby Giacubeno, Twitter)

5/26/17 - UNOFFICIAL VISIT: Stanford

5/4/17 - OFFER: Hofstra

5/3/17 - OFFER: Rhode Island

4/19/17 - #Wyoming will complete an in-home visit today with 2018 Team Melo guard Brendan Adams (@BAuno0), per source (Julius Kim, Twitter)

4/17/17 - Stanford, Miami & VCU are in today for 2018 Team Melo guard Brendan Adams, per source (Corey Evans, Twitter)

4/5/17 - Already holding a number of scholarship offers with a slew of others involved, Adams displays many of the characteristics of a high-level player. He can score from all three levels on the floor, sports a solid motor, brings good size onto the perimeter, and in the classroom is a standout student. By the time August rolls around, the face of Adams’ recruitment will have changed immensely but, at the time being, it would seem as if Stanford, Cincinnati and St. Joe’s may have the best shot. (Corey Evans, Rivals)

4/4/17 - HIGHLIGHTS: Brendan Adams Opens AAU Season with a BANG! Capital Hoops Fest Top Plays!

4/4/17 - One of the most exciting guards in the event, Adams, displayed why he will have a big upcoming summer. The 6-foot-4 four-star junior was outstanding on offensive as he constantly knocked down both open and contested shots. In transition, he consistently used his pull-up jumper and his change of pace to catch his defenders off guard. Going forward, the younger brother of Jaylen Adams (St. Bonaventure), will need to work on attacking the basket from different angles instead of straight lines drives but that will come along as he continue to improve and expand his game. When it comes to his recruitment, he has offers from the likes of Kansas State, Minnesota, St. Bonaventure, Stanford, St. Joseph’s and he carries interest from Maryland, VCU, Florida, Dayton, and Cincinnati. (Julius Kim, ElevateHoops.com)
