Britton explains his decision

The recruiting process for linebacker Chris Britton of Harrisburg, Pa. really began to heat up in December. This included a visit from the Huskies, which quickly moved his recruiting process along. Britton took an official visit this weekend and returned home one of the newest members of the 2013 UConn recruiting class.

"In December I talked to the UConn lineman coach and he said he was going to talk to the head coach to see if we could set up a visit," said Britton, who is 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds. "It was Coach Hughes and that meeting went well."

From that point, the recruiting process sped up for Britton quickly. Pittsburgh also became involved, plus Britton took an official visit to New Hampshire.

Finally, Britton was able to take his official visit to UConn a few days before National Signing Day.

"I liked the facilities, but the main reason why I committed was the academics," said Britton, who was offered by the Huskies as a greyshirt. "They are really high on academics and they had a lot of academic support to allow you to be successful in the classroom."

Other parts of the program also stood out to Britton.

"Education is very important to me, but I also loved all of the coaches and all of the players," said Britton.

During his senior season, Britton helped Harrisburg to an 11-3 season. His performance also helped him get named to the Big 33 Football Classic.

UConnReport.com will continue to stay in touch with Britton as he prepares to make his move to Storrs.
