Spartans want Jeppesen at camp

One of the top in-state prospects that the Michigan State staff is closely evaluating for a potential scholarship offer is Nate Jeppesen of Portage Central High School. caught up with the 6-foot-4, 260-pound prospect and got the latest details on his recruitment.

Jeppesen has been on campus several times over the past 12-months. Michigan State has invited him up for both games and junior day functions. That interest has kept Michigan State at or near the top list for the 3-star prospect. asked Jeppesen what school shave now offered and who else is showing significant interest.

"Right now I have offers from Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Toledo, Florida International and Bowling Green," he said. Both Michigan State and Michigan have both been by my school."

Michigan State is focusing more on the offensive tackle position for the class of 2012 and the Michigan Wolverines already have commitments from 5 offensive lineman. We asked Jeppesen with that in mind, what type of feedback is he receiving from those schools.

"Both Michigan State and Michigan have said they want me to come to camp and they want to see me work on the defensive line as well," Jeppesen said. "Michigan State has said they like me a lot and they are just trying to figure out where I can fit in and get a scholarship offer."

If the Spartans do come through with an offer it may not take long for Jeppesen to make his college choice. However, he indicated that he understand that recruiting is a process and he is not necessarily in a rush to make his choice.

"Getting an offer from Michigan State would me a lot," he said. "I am just taking my time though; I know everything will end up being all good."

You can be sure the Spartans will be paying a lot of attention to Jeppesen when he arrives on campus. If he shows that he has the versatility to project on either side of the ball, he will definitely move close to receiving a scholarship from Coach Dantonio. One of the things you cannot discount is a players desire to be at a school. Jeppesen has made it clear that East Lansing is a place he would love to be, that cannot hurt his chances either.
