Adama Sanogo commits to UConn

The starting point for the season might be in limbo, but Dan Hurley has his Husky house in order. The Husky head coach has been active on the recruiting trail and received a key commitment Tuesday morning.

The addition of 6-foot-9 center Adama Sanogo, from The Patrick School, fills the final opening on UConn's 2020-21 roster. Sanogo was a top-100 2021 recruit, but decided to reclassify to 2020, picking UConn over Seton Hall and Maryland.

Sanogo joins Andre Jackson and Javonte Brown-Ferguson in the Huskies’ incoming class.

“I think Danny and his staff really did a great job closing on him,” The Patrick School coach Chris Chavannes said. “I was surprised when he called me the other night and said ‘hey coach, I really think UConn is the best place for me.’”

Seton Hall appeared to have the inside edge on Sanogo, but the Huskies closed strong to land another piece to their front court.

“We talked about it quite a bit and he said to me he was looking for a place where he could feel where he could get to the NBA at a very quick pace,” Chavannes said. “And he thought UConn could do that quicker than Seton Hall.”
