November 21, 2012Sophomore athlete Sharrieff Grice of West Hartford (Conn. ) Kingswood Oxford has positioned himself to be one of the top 2015 prospects in the region. He recently finished up his season and is eager to improve his game during the coming months.
"Our season ended the week before last," said Grice. "I only ended up playing four and a half games after the first one because of an injury."
Grice, 6-foot-1 and 193 pounds, gave some insight on his injury.
"I had a pretty bad leg contusion in the King Low Heywood game and then I tried to play the next week against Hopkins and hurt it again," he said. "I'm doing a lot better now. I just finished physical therapy."
In his limited time on the field, Grice finished his sophomore season with 995 yards and 10 touchdowns on 106 carries, and nine receptions for 103 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively he added 37 tackles and four interceptions.
Now healthy and working out again, Grice has a few goals for his off-season.
"Well I definitely want to put on some extra weight this off-season and increase my strength to limit the chance of injury," he said. "I'm aiming to be about 210 pounds by next season. I also want to get out to a few more camps this off-season."
Grice has been hearing from UConn for awhile now and may camp there next summer.
"I'm not sure which camps exactly yet, but I'm looking to do a few more on the East Coast this summer and I'm thinking about taking a trip to Indiana for the Purdue camp," he said.
Because of his playing schedule and his injury, Grice has only been able to attend the Boston College/Notre Dame game to this point. Besides UConn and Boston College, Grice is also receiving early interest from Syracuse, Rutgers, Temple and Purdue.
UConnReport.com will continue to check in with Grice to see how his recruiting process progress during his off-season.
